Authorities said accident’s impact ejected the rider from their Ducati motorcycle and onto the ground, resulting in fatal injuries. The male victim was pronounced dead at the scene when the authorities arrived at the traffic lanes on the interstate collision scene.
Another similar incident occurred to the one mentioned above earlier on in November. On November 9, 2022, a crash occurred in Oakland on the I-580 where a motorcyclist lost control of their motorcycle before crashing into a metal guardrail.
The authorities said that the crash caused the rider traveling in the westbound lanes of the I-580 to end up in the eastbound lanes. According to the CHP, the rider was dead at the scene when authorities arrived.
The Alameda County Coroner’s Office identified the man as Hamza Salih. Investigation into the accident continued, with the California Highway Patrol requesting witnesses to contact their Oakland office.
East Bay Times reported the incident and requested readers to contact George Kelly, their staff writer, if they have any further information about the crash.
What Could’ve Caused the Guardrail Accident in Oakland and East Bay of San Francisco?
The Ducati motorcycle crash near Cummings skyway or the I-580 crash could’ve occurred due to negligence on behalf of the following parties:
- Motorcycle rider: National Highway Traffic Safety Administration conducted a study that revealed that 36% of all motorcyclists in fatal motorcycle accidents were under the influence of alcohol. There is a possibility of drunk or distracted driving by the two riders.
- Government agency: In some cases, a government entity could be responsible for a motorcycle crash. Motorcycles are lightweight vehicles and could easily lose traction after hitting bumps or cracks in the road, leading to an accident. In other cases, inadequate lighting on the freeway or the highway can cause low visibility increasing the risk of accidents.
- Motorcycle manufacturer: A motorcycle manufacturer has the duty to sell safe motorcycles to consumers. This includes conducting proper inspections before selling their vehicles. In some cases, a defective component in the motorbike can lead to a severe accident.
It is crucial to conduct a proper investigation to determine the liable parties and hold them accountable for their negligence.
