According to the watch commander, a man riding a bicycle suffered severe injuries after being struck by a hit-and-run white sedan with a cracked windshield, later identified as having been driven by Adriana Bernal.

As police arrived at the accident scene, they saw the bicyclist seriously injured on the road. Newport Beach authorities said the accident occurred at 8:30 AM, and witnesses saw the suspect driving southbound on Jamboree road.

Police Ultimately Arrested the Suspected Woman after Finding the Hit and Run Vehicle at Eastbluff Drive with a Cracked Windshield

Police started their investigations by locating the suspect’s vehicle, a white sedan with a cracked windshield.

They found the suspected driver, 36-year-old Anaheim resident Adriana Rivera Berna, parked at the 2100 block of Eastbluff Drive near Corona del Mar High School, where the officers detained and arrested her.

Police reports revealed that Berna was high on illegal substances before the accident. The crash wasn’t the first time Berna faced DUI charges, and records suggest a history of drug abuse, several DUIs, automobile theft, identity theft, and other crimes.
