Bus rollovers are one of the deadliest traffic accidents. If a bus is speeding and hits an object, such as the curb, this type of bus crash occurs. When a bus overturned south of Baker in California, one person died, and many others were treated for minor or critical injuries.
According to the San Bernardino County Fire Protection District, a bus overturn on Tuesday evening, December 13, 2022, on Interstate 15 south of Baker, California, resulted in one fatality and 11 injuries.
At 11:35 p.m., the accident was recorded at mile marker 126, some 15 miles to the south of Baker, in the Mojave Desert City, which can be found midway between Las Vegas and Victorville.
The bus, which was reportedly carrying 20 people, had toppled. Some passengers had been evacuated when rescue workers arrived, the San Bernardino County Fire Protection District stated in a statement.
Three more people were discovered with critical injuries, and the bus rollover killed one person, who was declared dead on-site. Additional people suffered moderate to minor injuries.
Emergency personnel stabilized patients on the scene until additional ambulances arrived. They provided advanced life support and saved many lives. Four helicopters were deployed for the transport of patients.
The Bus Rollover Killed One Person
While many were found to have minor injuries or moderate injuries, unfortunately, one person was declared dead on the scene.
The California Highway Patrol stated that the incident that affected multiple people was still under investigation. One of the most common causes of bus rollover accidents is speeding. When a large vehicle hits an object while traveling at high speed, this is a common occurrence.
It causes a mechanical problem that leads to the driver losing control of the vehicle, such as a tire blowout before the bus rolls and flinging people around the bus. Sometimes multiple people ejected from the bus could cause serious injuries.
If you were injured in an accident, like the one that occurred south of Baker, that was caused by someone else’s negligence; you may be entitled to compensation for your injuries.
