A 26-year-old veteran and special victim bureau detective, Detective Steven Lim, suffered a medical emergency while returning home from work. At around 10 PM, Lim faced a medical emergency that caused him to crash near West Carson Street and Vermont Avenue in Carson, leading to his death.
Video of the silver SUV crashed near West Carson street and Vermont Avenue showed frontal damage with a flat tire. According to City News Service, paramedics immediately moved Detective Lim to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office did not provide further details about the medical emergency. After the young detective’s death, Sheriff Robert Luna expressed his grief on Facebook and praised how Lim handled the most severe child abuse cases.
Sheriff Robert Luna stated that the single-vehicle collision occurred near Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in an unincorporated area of Los Angeles County adjacent to Carson. Detective Lim leaves behind his wife and children.
