Knowing the Right of Way and Staying Alert Is Key in Preventing Accidents

In the “Fatal crash in martin county on SH-349 near mile marker 298” incident, Darreus Malik Bryant failed to control the speed of his vehicle and crashed into an 18-wheeler that was in the inside lane waiting to turn left into a private drive.

It is essential to know when you have the right of way and when you should yield it to another driver or motorcyclist. Many drivers on the road are unaware of the traffic laws and road rules, increasing the risk of devastating accidents.

Whether or not it is illegal to stop in the inside lane or regardless of the rules, drivers and motorcyclists need to practice defensive driving. A reasonable person who has their attention on the road can predict certain situations and avoid an accident.

In the case of Darreus Malik Bryant from Sugar Land, Texas, he was driving very fast and did not have enough time to react to the 18-wheeler making a left turn into a private drive.

Who Is Liable for the Death of the Driver in the Fatal Crash in Martin County?

Preliminary investigation revealed that Darreus Malik Bryant’s car was struck northbound by a third vehicle resulting in his death. The investigation determined that the driver was traveling northbound when it rear-ended a trailer.

In rear-end collisions, the driver that rear-ends a leading car is often liable for the damages. However, determining the fatal crash in Martin County is slightly complicated as there is also a third vehicle.

Was the trailer waiting in the wrong place and did not have the right of way? Was Bryant speeding and could not stop in time? Was the third driver distracted and rear-ended Bryant’s car causing his death?

An impartial investigation can help reveal the circumstances and identify the liable parties to help pursue compensation.
